Alexis outlines contract demands to extend Arsenal stay

Alexis Sanchez is demanding a whopping £400,000 a week, in the process becoming the Premier League’s highest paid player, if he is to pen a new Arsenal deal, reports the Daily Star.

The Chilean has a little under 12 months left to run on his current contract at the Emirates Stadium and Arsenal are keen to tie him down to a long-term deal.

A host of teams have been linked with a move for Alexis this summer, including Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, but the Gunners have rebuffed offers from the trio, among others.

Alexis is yet to extend his stay at the club, but it looks as though he won’t be sold this summer, which is a boost to Arsenal in their bid to improve their title chances.

It also gives the north London side the opportunity to continue negotiations with the former Barcelona star, who has recently snubbed a £300,000 a week offer from Arsenal.

Indeed, the 28-year-old wants nearer to £400,000 a week, which would make him far and away the highest paid player in the Premier League.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will bow to the player’s demands, though manager Arsene Wenger is hoping to call upon Alexis in Sunday’s trip to Liverpool.
