Juventus to sign Bayern Munich winger in €46m transfer

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed Juventus will trigger their option to make Douglas Costa’s loan deal permanent in a deal worth €46m (£41.2m).

Costa joined Juventus on an initial season-long loan deal over the summer after being deemed surplus to requirements by the Bundesliga giants.

Juventus paid an initial €6m loan fee and will stump up a further €40m over the next two financial years to seal the Brazilian’s signature on a permanent basis.

“Douglas Costa joined Juventus on loan last summer,” Goal.com quote Rummenigge as saying in Friday’s shareholder meeting. “At the same time he will definitely join Juventus next summer for €46m overall.”

The 27-year-old has only started five Serie A matches this season and been forced to make a further five appearances as a substitute. Despite struggling for regular playing time, Costa has still managed a direct hand in four league goals (1 goal, three assists).

Furthermore, of the 370 players that have featured in more than 150 minutes of Serie A action this season, Costa requires the fewest minuters per successful dribble (1 every 21.2 minutes of action).
