Christian Eriksen has informed new Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho he still wants to leave the club, claims The Daily Telegraph.
The Denmark international made it clear last summer he wanted a new challenge after six years at the club.
Eriksen was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United but had his heart set on joining Real Madrid.
Nothing materalised and Eriksen started the campaign out of favour under Mauricio Pochettino due to his desire to leave.
Pochettino was sacked and replaced by former United manager Mourinho at the end of last month but nothing has changed for Eriksen.
The 27-year-old still has his heart set on leaving Tottenham at the next possible opportunity and has told Mourinho of his wish.
Eriksen's current contract is due to expire at the end of the season and Tottenham will desperately try to offload the creative midfielder in January.
Failure to sell Eriksen next month will see one of the Premier League's best creative midfielders leave Tottenham for nothing in the summer.
Eriksen snubbed United in the summer but it remains to be seen whether he would reconsider a move to Old Trafford now it seems unlikely Madrid will pursue him.
The former Ajax academy graduate may even dig his heels in over a January exit in order to become a free agent in the summer when he will be in a better bargaining position.
Eriksen has not started any of Mourinho's first three matches in charge of Tottenham and is unlikely to feature much now he has made it clear his future is away from the club.
Since joining Tottenham from Ajax in the summer of 2013, Eriksen has registered the most assists in the Premier League (61).
