Juventus pushing to sign Barcelona midfielder

Juventus are locked in talks with Barcelona over the transfer of Andre Gomes and have been monitoring his situation for some time now, reports Spanish publication Marca.

Gomes has struggled for form since making the move to Camp Nou from Valencia last summer and it’s rumoured that Barcelona will look to sell him on before the close of the transfer window.

The Catalan giants are hoping to bring in €45m for the Portuguese midfielder, though Juventus will look to negotiate that figure down.

A host of Premier League sides have also been linked with a move for the 24-year-old, including Arsenal and Tottenham, but Juventus are confident they can win the race to lure Gomes away from Barcelona.

Gomes is yet to feature in La Liga this season, with he falling out of favour at the club and Barcelona are now prepared to sell in the coming days, having been against the notion earlier in the summer, to help fund moves for Philippe Coutinho and Angel Di Maria.

Juventus, though, are only willing to take Gomes on a season-long loan with an option to buy having invested heavily in the squad this summer already in Blaise Matuidi, Federico Bernardeschi and Wojciech Szczesny, among others.
