Fenerbache forced into emergency landing

The plane carrying the Fenerbahce team due to face Manchester United on Thursday were forced to make an emergency landing in Hungary on Wednesday.

Fenerbahce will face United at Old Trafford in their third Europa League group match of the season but there preparations haven’t gone to plane.

Dick Advocaat’s side were diverted to Budapest airport after a bird cracked the front windshield shortly after take-off from Istanbul.

“A Borajet 195/200 long range type of aircraft, registration number TC/YAT, made a successful emergency landing here shortly after midday,” Budapest airport’s spokesman Mihaly Hardy told AFP, via Sky Sports.

‘The Fenerbahce players were on board and are now safely waiting in the terminal building for another aircraft, on which they will continue their journey to England.”

Fenerbahce travel to Old Trafford looking to inflict further Europa League misery on United, but will have to continue to turn their own form around to do so. In fact, the Turkish giants have only won five of their last 20 away matches in all competitions.
