Ibrahimovic to leave Manchester United this week

Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will secure a move to Major League Soccer this week with LA Galaxy the frontrunners for his signature, claims ESPN.

Ibrahimovic has been heavily linked with a move stateside since the end of last season and MLS are now thought to be on the verge of clinching a deal for their top target.

The 36-year-old suffered a career-threatening knee injury in April last year but United still ended up renewing his contract after he showed remarkable signs of recovery for someone of his age.

However, things have not gone to plan for Ibrahimovic this season, who has been limited to just seven appearances in all competitions for Jose Mourinho’s side.

Ibrahimovic has not featured for United since Boxing Day and any reports suggesting he could come out of international retirement and play for Sweden at the 2018 World Cup appear mere speculation than reality.

It has now emerged that the former Paris Saint-Germain striker has already played his final match for United and is now expected to sign a lucrative contract with LA Galaxy.

Ibrahimovic’s dream of lifting the Champions League for the first time in his illustrious career is now over after United were surprisingly eliminated by Sevilla in the round of 16.

If reports are to be believed, then Ibrahimovic will finish his two years at United having won the League Cup and Europa League, scoring 29 goals in 53 appearances in all competitions.
