Tottenham sweating on knee scan results for key defender

Tottenham are waiting on scan results to find out the full extent of Danny Rose’s knee injury, manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed.

Rose, 26, was forced off 38 minutes into Tottenham’s 0-0 draw with Sunderland at the weekend and is reportedly set for a period of three weeks out on the sidelines through injury.

The England international has arguably been the best left-back in the Premier League this season and Pochettino insists they won’t be able to put a timeframe on his absence until scan results return on Monday.

“Danny had a scan on Thursday and now we need to wait until Monday to get the verdict of the specialist. Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and Kieran Trippier are still out,” Sky Sports quote Pochettino as saying.

The combination of Rose and Walker on either side of the back four has been one of the main reasons behind Tottenham’s formidable success this season and his absence is a huge blow to their faint hopes of catching Chelsea at the top of the league.

In fact, both are the only players in the current WhoScored Premier League team of the season.
