Atletico tease Costa return

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has refused to rule out bringing Chelsea striker Diego Costa back to the Spanish capital.

Costa, 26, put pen to paper on a five-year deal when he joined Chelsea from Atletico for £32m in 2014, but has been linked with a return since the end of last season.

The Brazilian-born Spain international has endured a torrid start to the campaign and Atletico’s president revealed you can never tell what the future may hold when asked about the chance of bringing Costa back to the Vicente Calderon.

“Right now, Diego is a Chelsea player and he has to focus on Chelsea,” Cerezo told RTVE.

“But you never know what will happen in football and sometimes players do return to their former clubs.”

Costa scored a brace in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Watford on Boxing Day, having netted three in his previous 14 Premier League appearances this season.
