Barcelona make shock approach for Tottenham outcast

Barcelona have made a shock enquiry for Tottenham starlet Ryan Sessegnon in addition to unsettled midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, claims the London Evening Standard.

The Spanish side have been heavily linked with a summer move for Ndombele after being alerted to his potential availability this summer.

Ndombele has failed to make any impact in the Premier League since joining Tottenham in a club-record deal over the summer and has a strained relationship with manager Jose Mourinho.

The France international has featured in just one match for Tottenham since football in England resumed and is reportedly determined to leave at the end of the season.

Barcelona are the frontrunners for Ndombele's signature but it has emerged that in conversations between the clubs the Spanish side have also asked for Sessegnon.

Like Ndombele, Sessegnon has endured a difficult first season at Tottenham and is yet to play post-lockdown.

The 20-year-old does not feature in Mourinho's immiedate plans but the Tottenham boss personally intervened to block any potential transfer to Barcelona.

While it is highly likely Sessegnon will be loaned out next season to get regular playing time, Tottenham still believe the youngster has a big part to play at the club going forward.

Cash-strapped Barcelona are exploring player-swap deals where possible this summer but will have to look elsewhere in their attempts to strengthen at left-back for next season.
