Manchester City’s Brazilian ace unsure on future beyond this season
Fernandinho is not sure whether he has a future at Manchester City beyond the end of this season when his current deal expires, reports The Sun.
The Brazil international has entered the final 12 months of his existing City deal but is yet to be given an indication whether Pep Guardiola will look to retain his services.
Fernandinho has established himself as a key player under Guardiola and allows City’s attacking talent to flourish as he sits back and protects their defence.
However, City will look to revamp their central midfield options next summer given the ages of both Yaya Toure and Fernandinho, and the 32-year-old is not sure whether he will still be at the club next season.
Fernandinho, who had expected to sign a new deal already, will be free to discuss a Bosman transfer with foreign clubs in January and won’t be short of suitors.
Since the start of last season, only Cesar Azpilicueta (2411) and Granit Xhaka (2403) have completed more passes in the Premier League than Fernandinho (2237).
