Mino Raiola has revealed talks have begun with Paris Saint-Germain to extend Blaise Matuidi’s current deal with the club.
Matuidi, 29, was heavily linked with a move to Juventus in the summer and admitted after the summer transfer window had closed that he wanted to leave the Ligue 1 champions.
The France international’s current deal is due to expire in 2018 and he appeared set with a move away from PSG in January, although his agent has confirmed a sensational turnaround is on the verge of taking place with a new deal in the works.
“Things are advancing naturally,” Raiola told Le Parisien, via ESPN. “We are in discussions with the club in a very positive manner. I think that Blaise will stay with PSG.”
Matuidi has been a regular in the PSG starting XI since joining from Saint-Etienne in 2011 and his energy in midfield in covering a box-to-box role has been integral to PSG’s success ever since.
Since the 2009/10 campaign only Maxime Gonalons (789) has completed more tackles than Matuidi (686).
