Barcelona set to snap up Manchester United creator for nothing

Barcelona will make a summer move for Juan Mata if he fails to agree a new deal with Manchester United, claims The Sun.

Mata has entered the final few months of his existing United deal and there has been no breakthrough in talks with the 30-year-old.

The former Spain international has been heavily linked with a summer move to Arsenal where he would reunite with former Valencia manager Unai Emery.

However, the Gunners can now expect stiff competition from Barcelona, who are keen to sign the experienced creator on a free transfer.

Mata has spent the last five years at United after completing a £37.1m move from Premier League rivals Chelsea but has divided opinion among supporters during that time.

The United No.8 has only started 13 league matches this season and made a further six appearances from the bench. In that time he has only scored twice and registered two assists.
