Real Madrid star hints at summer exit

Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic has cast doubt over his future in Spain having admitted he needs regular game time elsewhere.

The Croatia international made just 21 league appearances for Los Blancos last season, 10 of which were from the off.

Kovacic was an unused sub in the Champions League final 3-1 win over Liverpool and while his agent recently dismissed rumours of a possible move away from Spain, the 24-year-old confirmed his frustration over a lack of regular action.

"I believe I'll play more, whether in Real or somewhere else, now is the time for me to play,’’ Kovacic is quoted as saying by the Sun.

"Offers? I am under contract with Real and I wish not to comment on other clubs."

The news will alert potential Premier League targets Manchester United and Tottenham, while a move to Inter Milan, the club Kovacic left for Real Madrid in 2015, has been mooted.

One of Kovacic’s statistically calculated WhoScored.com strengths is dribbling, with his success rate (89.7%) the third best of those to have attempted 25 or more dribbles in La Liga last season.
