Domenico Berardi could be set for a summer switch to Inter, who have stolen a march in the race to sign the striker from Sassuolo, according to Calciomercato.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who is a known admirer of the 22-year old, now faces missing out on an apparent target. He has endured an injury plagued campaign for the Serie A strugglers, but that hasn’t prevented the club from putting a €40m asking price on the head of their prized asset, with Inter reportedly in advanced talks to sign the forward ahead of next season.
Berardi was close to a return to Juventus last summer but resisted the temptation due to fears that he may not get the playing time he desired. The youngster would likely play more at Inter, and his record against fierce rivals Milan would no doubt win over the fans having scored more times against the Rossoneri than any other side (8).
However, having struggled to make the same impact following a serious injury, with just 3 goals in 15 league appearances this season, Inter are understandably keen to drive Sassuolo’s fee down.
