Right-back fighting to save Tottenham career

Tottenham right-back Serge Aurier is battling to save his Tottenham career after storming out of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following his half time withdrawal in the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool on Thursday, reports The Mail on Sunday.

Aurier has become a key man for Spurs following Jose Mourinho's appointment in November 2019 and despite the arrival of Matt Doherty, had nailed down the number one right-back berth for the club.

However, Mourinho elected to take the Ivorian off at the break against Liverpool as he switched tactics in Spurs' failed attempts to haul themselves back into the game against the Reds.

And teammates were supposedly shocked at Aurier's outburst at the break, which leaves the Ivory Coast international battling to save his career at the club.

Aurier has just 18 months left to run on his current contract in north London and the latest revelations may impact the club's decision to offer him a new deal.

Spurs take on Brighton tonight and the 28-year-old may be dropped in favour of Doherty at the AMEX Stadium.
