Bayern Munich set to beat Liverpool to Ligue 1 ace

Bayern Munich are poised to beat Liverpool and Manchester United for £70m-rated Lille winger Nicolas Pepe, claims The Sun.

The Bundesliga champions are on the market for new wingers in order to replace Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben this summer.

Bayern appear to have missed out on Premier League duo Leroy Sane and Callum Hudson-Odoi but are on course to land Pepe.

The Ivory Coast international was a revelation in Ligue 1 last season and is also on Liverpool and United’s radar this summer.

Bayern are pushing ahead with their interest in Pepe after failing to agree a fee with Manchester City for Sane.

Niko Kovac’s side have already broken their club transfer record for Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez and are willing to eclipse that £68m deal to sign Pepe.

The 24-year-old played a direct hand in 33 goals in 38 league appearances for Lille last season and won the WhoScored Man of the Match award 13 times in that time.

Furthermore, only Kylian Mbappe (8.00) and Teji Savanier (7.89) garnered a higher WhoScored rating than Pepe (7.62) in Ligue 1 last term.
