Fabregas set for London derby misery against former side Arsenal

Cesc Fabregas looks set to lose his starting place when Chelsea welcome former club Arsenal on Sunday, reports The Daily Telegraph.

The 29-year-old started alongside N’Golo Kante in central midfield in Chelsea’s record-equalling 6-0 win over Qarabag FK in the Champions League on Tuesday night, but faces a real fight to keep hold of his place in the team this weekend.

Tiemoue Bakayoko replaced Kante midway through the second half on Tuesday and is expected to partner his France international team-mate against Arsenal on Sunday as Chelsea ramp up their title tilt.

With Eden Hazard set to start his first league game of the season, Fabregas looks destined to drop to the bench against his former club with Pedro expected to fill the final spot behind Alvaro Morata, who was also rested in midweek.

Of players that have registered at least five assists in the Premier League since the start of last season, Fabregas has done so at the quickest rate (1 every 131.3 minutes of action).
