Christian Eriksen is unlikely to renew his Tottenham contract and is keen to join Real Madrid, claims AS.
Eriksen has entered the final 18 months of his existing Tottenham deal and the Premier League side are not close to making a breakthrough in discussions.
The Denmark international will not leave Tottenham this month but Mauricio Pochettino’s side may have to evaluate his future at the end of the season.
As Eriksen will only have 12 months left to run on his contract in the summer, Tottenham may have to cash-in rather than risk losing him for nothing in 2020.
Eriksen has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona and Madrid in the past and has been touted as a long-term Luka Modric replacement for the latter.
Modric, who wanted to join Inter in the summer, turns 34 later this year and has generally struggled to reproduce his best performances this season.
Eriksen is more attacking than the veteran Madrid midfielder but they do share certain qualities, particularly when it comes to picking a pass.
Since August 2016, Eriksen has provided more assists than any other player in the Premier League (34).
