Beijing Guoan attempt to lure ex-Arsenal forward to China
A spokesman for Galatasaray has revealed the club have received a ‘remarkable offer’ for Lukas Podolski from China.
Podolski, 31, has entered the final 18 months of his current deal with the Turkish giants and the club have received a reported £5.5m bid from Chinese Super League outfit Beijing Guoan for the versatile forward to join the club in the January transfer window.
The 31-year-old, who racked up 129 caps for Germany during his 12-year international career, has been given the green light to move to China by Galatasaray and a spokesman for the club has revealed the deal is now in the hands of the player.
“We’ve received a remarkable offer from Beijing Guoan for Lukas Podolski,” Levant Nazifoglu told Anadolu Agency, via The Daily Mail. “Now we’re thinking about this offer. The possible move is up to the player.”
Beijing Guoan currently boast Brazil international Renato Augusto as their current marquee signing but are keen to get in on the act of signing high profile players from Europe as their Chinese Super League rivals have been doing in recent months.
Oscar and Carlos Tevez are the latest players to have been attracted to the riches of China and former Arsenal and Bayern Munich striker Podolski could soon be the next.
Podolski has only started five league games for Galatasaray this season but has managed to play a direct hand in as many goals (three goals, two assists).
