Burnley make £13m club-record signing

Burnley have announced they have broken their club transfer record to land versatile Norwich defender Robbie Brady in a deal worth £13m.

Brady has been heavily linked with a move away from Carrow Road this month with a host of Premier League sides chasing his signature.

Leicester and Crystal Palace have already been mooted with Brady’s signature but it is Burnley that have won the race to land the Ireland international, surpassing the £10m they paid Derby for Jeff Hendrick in the summer.

Brady can prove an excellent addition for Burnley and will sufficiently strengthen the left hand side of their squad having already proved he can play at left wing and in his usual position of left-back.

The 25-year-old, who has put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year deal, is the second player Burnley have signed on deadline day following the arrival of Ashley Westwood from Aston Villa in a deal worth £5m.

Brady departs Norwich as their third highest rated player in the Championship (7.15) having played a direct hand in eight goals in 23 appearances (four goals, four assists).
