Paris Saint-Germain target shock move for Manchester United midfielder
Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to offer Marouane Fellaini a four-year deal in order to prise the midfielder away from Manchester United, reports French outlet Le10Sport, via The Daily Mail.
The Belgium international is on course to leave United for nothing when his contract expires at the end of the season but Jose Mourinho’s side remain hopeful they can convince the midfielder to extend his stay.
Fellaini, who rejected a new contract from United in September, will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from January 1 and PSG have emerged as the new frontrunners for his signature.
It’s a mark of just how high Fellaini’s stock has risen in the last two years that not only are United desperate to keep him, but now Champions League favourites PSG are chasing his signature.
Given the fact Thiago Motta is 35, Unai Emery wants to sign a new defensive midfielder and the Ligue 1 giants are even prepared to offer Fellaini a four-year deal to land the 30-year-old.
Fellaini understands that his next contract will be his last big one and a four-year deal on the table from PSG would likely blow United out the water in negotiations.
United have a better success rate in the Premier League under Mourinho when Fellaini has started (57.1%) compared to the 29 matches he has not featured in from the off (48.3%).
