Real Madrid midfielder not interested in Serie A move, says agent
The agent of Mateo Kovacic has shot down suggestions the Real Madrid midfielder could trade in life at the Bernabeu for a return to Serie A to join Roma or AC Milan.
Madrid made the surprise decision to sign Kovacic from Inter in August 2015 but the Croatia international has never been first choice with the likes of Toni Kroos, Casemiro, Luka Modric and Isco ahead of him in the pecking order.
The 22-year-old has struggled for playing time this season and been linked with a return to Serie A as a result, but his agent, Nikky Vuksan, insists his client is happy in midfielder.
“Mateo is a Real Madrid player and he is happy at his club. That is all,” he told LaRoma24.it, via Football Italia.
Kovacic has caught the interest of Roma’s new sporting director Monchi but with four years remaining on his remaining contract, it seems unlikely there will be an exit on the cards at this stage with the futures of Isco and James Rodriguez still uncertain.
Of the 67 players that have attempted at least 50 dribbles in La Liga this season, Kovacic has done so with the greatest success rate (80.3%).
