Tottenham are preparing a £20m move for out of favour PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot, reports the Sun.
The Frenchman is set to leave PSG this month and he won’t play again for the Ligue 1 champions having refused to extend his stay with the Parisian side, with head coach Thomas Tuchel banishing him to the U23s.
Barcelona were supposedly leading the race to secure his services, but are more inclined to wait until the summer to sign the 23-year-old.
The arrival of Frankie de Jong also complicates matters for Barcelona and Rabiot and it could see Spurs steal a march on their Spanish counterparts to land the PSG youngster this month.
Spurs are short in midfield at present following the departure of Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama’s ongoing injury woes.
Chairman Daniel Levy is prepared to loosen the purse strings in order to help head coach Mauricio Pochettino strengthen his squad, with the Argentine eager to sign Rabiot.
PSG though will only sanction his sale provided they can sign a replacement, with Leandro Paredes and Idrissa Gueye both options.
