Manchester United defender undergoes Crystal Palace medical
Timothy Fosu-Mensah underwent his medical with Crystal Palace on Monday ahead of a season-long loan deal from Manchester United, reports The Daily Telegraph.
The 19-year-old is well thought of at Old Trafford but will now have the chance to get regular game time after struggling to force his way into Jose Mourinho’s first team plans last season.
Fosu-Mensah came through the Ajax youth academy while Frank de Boer was manager of the Dutch giants and will now have the chance to work with the new Palace boss on a day-to-day basis.
De Boer has already reunited with Jairo Riedewald from Ajax this summer and has moved to bring another player familiar with the style of play he wants to implement at Selhurst Park.
Having already loaned Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea, Palace will now hit their quote for loan signings with the arrival of the versatile Dutch defender, which means any more signings this summer will have to be permanent ones.
Mourinho has no intention of selling Fosu-Mensah permanently as the United manager has earmarked the teenager as a long-term replacement for Antonio Valencia at right-back.
Last season Fosu-Mensah only managed 96 minutes of playing time in the Premier League, as well as identical time on the pitch in the Europa League.
