United midfielder to serve ban

Bastian Schweinsteiger will serve a three-match ban after accepting his charge of violent conduct.

The Manchester United midfielder was involved in an incident with West Ham defender Winston Reid in Saturday's 0-0 draw with the Hammers at Old Trafford.

And following retrospective action, the FA have punished the Germany international, who has opted against challenging the decision.

"Bastian Schweinsteiger will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect after he accepted an FA charge for violent conduct which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video," a statement read on the official FA website.

"The Manchester United midfielder was involved in an incident with West Ham United’s Winston Reid in the 40th minute of the game on Saturday 5 December 2015."
