Toljan swaps Hoffenheim for Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the signing of full-back Jeremy Toljan from Bundesliga counterparts Hoffenheim.

The Germany U21 international, who was named in the European U21 Championship team of the tournament, was linked with a move to Tottenham earlier in the summer, but has since penned a five-year deal with Dortmund.

“Borussia Dortmund have signed Germany U21 international Jeremy Toljan, who became an U21 European Champion in 2017 and claimed a silver medal at the 2016 Olympic Games,” a statement read on the club’s official website.

“The full-back, who has just turned 23, penned a contract tying him to the club until 30 June 2022.

“Since making his Bundesliga debut for TSG Hoffenheim on 5 October 2013, the Stuttgart native has made 56 Bundesliga appearances, scoring twice, and played on six occasions in the DFB Cup.

“Including all age categories from U17 level to senior level at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil, where he finished as a runner-up, he has played 38 times for Germany.”
