Real Madrid and Manchester City on red alert for Bayern Munich star
Robert Lewandowski will push for a move away from Bayern Munich in January to put Real Madrid and Manchester City on red alert, reports The Daily Mirror.
The Poland international has engaged in a war of words with Bayern since the end of last season and has moved closer to a stunning move away after questioning the club’s ambition in recent weeks.
Lewandowski has already spoken about his desire to join Madrid in the past but it remains to be seen whether the reigning Champions League winners are interested given Florentino Perez is a huge fan of Karim Benzema.
However, as there have been reports linking Alexis Sanchez with a January move to Madrid, it might suggest Zinedine Zidane’s side are looking to bolster their offensive options after missing out on Kylian Mbappe in the summer.
Madrid failed to replace Alvaro Morata and James Rodriguez during the summer and now a stunning move for Lewandowski could be on the cards.
City head coach Pep Guardiola may also look to reunite with the Pole after he flourished under the former Bayern manager, although Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus’ stunning start to the season may rule out a transfer.
Lewandowski has made a fine start to the season despite the growing uncertainty surrounding his future, scoring five times in their opening four league games.
In fact, since the start of last season only Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored as many Bundesliga goals as Lewandowski (both 35).
