Borussia Dortmund target former Chelsea and Tottenham boss
Borussia Dortmund have made contact with former Chelsea and Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas as they gear up to replace Peter Stoger, according to Goal.com.
Dortmund are still in the running to finish second in the Bundesliga, but they’ve disappointed this season and, with two games to go, are two points behind local rivals Schalke and 26 behind champions Bayern Munich.
Peter Bosz was relieved of his duties earlier in the season having succeeded Thomas Tuchel as Dortmund coach last summer, while Stoger hasn’t fared much better after Bosz was sacked.
Lucien Favre is a possible candidate for the soon-to-be-vacant managerial role in Dortmund, but Villas-Boas is another on the club’s radar.
The Portuguese boss hasn’t coached since leaving his role as Shanghai SIPG boss in November to take part in the Dakar Rally, only to retire from the competition after crashing into a sand dune.
And with Stoger’s contract up at the end of the season, Villas-Boas, who has also coached Zenit St. Petersburg since leaving Spurs, guiding the Russian side to a league and cup double, has been sounded out by the Bundesliga giants.
