Tottenham star Harry Kane suffers suspected ankle injury

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has emerged as an early doubt for England’s upcoming friendlies after limping off in the first half of Sunday’s match against Bournemouth.

Gareth Southgate will name his England squad on Thursday for matches against Holland and Italy but it remains to be seen if Kane will be fit enough to feature.

Kane was replaced by Erik Lamela 34 minutes into Tottenham’s match at Dean Court after failing to overcome a collision with Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

The England international beat Begovic to Christian Eriksen’s cross but his ankle appeared to roll under contact and he failed to respond to treatment before going straight down the tunnel.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will also hope Kane’s injury is not serious as they look to cement a place in the top four.

No player has scored more Premier League goals than Kane (24) this season.
