Liverpool boosted in pursuit of Watford winger

Liverpool have received a boost in their push to sign Ismaila Sarr from Watford amidst reports the winger has requested to leave the Hornets, according to the Express.

The Reds remain in the market for another wide forward and have held a long standing interest in the Senegal international.

This comes despite Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah making impressive starts to the season as both were on the scoresheet in Liverpool's 3-0 win at Norwich on the opening weekend of the 2021/22 campaign.

Head coach Jurgen Klopp has already eyed up the possibility of signing Jarrod Bowen from West Ham, but will again turn his attention to Sarr.

The 23-year-old scored for Watford in their opening weekend 3-2 win over Aston Villa with the Reds believed to have been quoted £40m for Sarr.

However, if Sarr is keen to leave Vicarage Road, it's unlikely that Liverpool would have a free run at the winger, who has also been linked with a move to Manchester United in the past.

That said, if Liverpool are to launch a move for Sarr, they'll need to get some fringe stars off the books, with Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi free to leave this summer.
