Inter prepare £17m bid for Tottenham creator

Inter are stepping up their pursuit of Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen and plan to bid £17m this month, claims The Guardian.

Eriksen has entered the final six months of his existing Tottenham contract and has made it clear he does not want to renew despite Jose Mourinho’s arrival.

The Denmark international wanted to join Real Madrid in the summer but the Spanish side opted against a deal, while Manchester United were also keen.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side ultimately decided against intensifying their interest after Eriksen made it clear he wanted to leave England.

Inter are now in pole position to sign the 27-year-old and are prepared to offer Eriksen a four-and-a-half-year deal.

Eriksen has made 17 league appearances this season but only nine have come from the start due to the uncertainty regarding his future. He has played a direct hand in just four goals in that time (two goals, two assists).
