Sampdoria make shock £6m bid for England international

Sampdoria have made a surprise £6m bid for Arsenal outcast Jack Wilshere but will need to increase their offer to £8.7m, reports Sky Italia, via Football Italia.

Wilshere, who is currently recovering from a broken leg suffered in April, has emerged as a surprised target for Sampdoria after falling completely out of favour under Arsene Wenger.

Roma and AC Milan were heavily linked with a move Wilshere 12 months ago and now Marco Giampaolo’s side are ready to chance their luck for the England international.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Bournemouth and Arsenal are now ready to part ways with the midfielder on a permanent basis, but want £8.7m for his signature.

Crystal Palace and West Ham are understood to be monitoring Wilshere’s future at the Emirates, but it does appear that he no longer features in Wenger’s long-term plans for the club.

Wilshere made 27 appearances for Bournemouth in the Premier League last season, which represents his most involved campaign since the 2010/11 campaign (35 appearances).

The England midfielder failed to score during his time on the south coast, but only Kevin De Bruyne (9) and Paul Pogba (6) were denied by the woodwork more times (Wilshere  - 5).
