Griezmann wants Atletico Madrid future resolved before World Cup
Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann says he wants his future resolved before heading to the World Cup in Russia this summer.
Griezmann has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona this season and came close to joining Manchester United at the end of last season.
The 27-year-old is currently on international duty with France gearing up for upcoming friendlies against Colombia and Russia.
France are one of the favourites for the World Cup this summer but Greizmann does not want any distractions in Russia.
“I want to travel to Russia without this concern,” Griezmann told L’Equipe, via AS. “It’s not about knowing where I’ll play, but about having the peace of mind if I’m still in one place or another.
“It may be boring, but I have told my sister that, whether I stay or not, this will have to be resolved beforehand [prior to the World Cup starting]. What bothers me the most is that everyone asks me about this issue.”
Griezmann struggled to rediscover his best form at the start of the season, which was accredited to the fact he almost left Atletico in the summer.
However, the Atletico No.7 has exploded into form in 2018 and is arguably one of the best players in the world on current performances.
In fact, only Cristiano Ronaldo (18) has scored more goals than Griezmann (12) in Europe’s top five leagues in 2018.
