Real Madrid eye surprise move for ex-Liverpool target
Part of Zinedine Zidane’s summer overhaul of Real Madrid includes a blockbuster move for Lyon captain Nabil Fekir, claims The Daily Record.
Madrid re-appointed Zidane as manager at the start of the week and have promised the Frenchman money will be available to spend this summer.
The Spanish giants have been heavily linked with a move for a number of players across Europe since Zidane’s return and now Fekir has emerged as a top transfer target for Los Blancos.
Fekir came close to joining Liverpool last summer but Jurgen Klopp’s side pulled the plug on a deal following the Frenchman’s medical.
The 25-year-old will only have 12 months remaining on his current Lyon deal at the end of the season and the Ligue 1 giants will not stand in his way of leaving.
Madrid have been alerted to Fekir’s availability and the fact they will be able to agree a cut-price deal for the 2018 World Cup winner.
The Lyon captain has played a direct hand in 14 goals in 21 league appearances this season (nine goals, five assists) and is the club’s highest WhoScored rated player in the competition (7.35).
