Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted he regrets not signing Diego Costa in 2014.
The Gunners will come up against the Spain international when Arsenal and Chelsea meet at the Emirates on Saturday evening.
Costa, who is the joint-top scorer in the Premier League this season with five goals, has impressed following his switch to Stamford Bridge and Wenger has lavished praise on the feisty frontman.
When asked if he would have made a harder play for Costa had he known of his availability at the time, Wenger told the Daily Telegraph: “Yes. I like him as a quality striker. Costa is similar to Drogba. I like the qualities of the player. All the rest around is not needed.”
Wenger has also added that his threat has increased with a calmer approach, saying: “He looks since the start of the season to have cleaned up his act, that he behaves more focused on the game and that makes him more dangerous.”
