Aguero could be injured until next season, says Manchester City boss

Pep Guardiola fears Sergio Aguero could miss the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign after suffering a suspected knee injury on Monday night.

Aguero limped at the end of the first half of City's dominant 5-0 win over Burnley after winning a penalty for the home side.

The Argentina international was left in a heap after a fairly innocuous challenge from Burnley captain Ben Mee but was replaced by Gabriel Jesus.

Guardiola later confirmed Aguero has been battling a slight knee issue for the last month but could now miss City's remaining eight games because of it.

Aguero could be injured until next season, says Manchester City boss

"It doesn't look good, something in the knee, we will see tomorrow [Tuesday] in a better way what he has," Sky Sports quote Guardiola as saying. "He was struggling in the last month about pain in his knee, we will see."

If Aguero is ruled out for the remainder of the season, it means he will finish with his lowest goal return in a single-Premier League campaign since 2012/13 (12).

Aguero currently has 16 league goals in 2019/20, having reached at least 20 in each of the last five campaigns.
