Chelsea striker Batshuayi finally secures January move
Crystal Palace have announced they have signed Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi on a loan for the remainder of the season.
Batshuayi spent the first half of the season at Valencia but the Spanish side made it clear they wanted to terminate his stay at the start of the transfer window.
West Ham, Tottenham, Monaco, Real Betis and Everton were all heavily linked with a move for the Belgium international throughout January.
West Ham and Betis agreed loan deals in principle but talks fizzled out before Tottenham withdrew their brief interest due to the fact Chelsea were demanding an £8m loan fee from them, significantly more than any other interested party.
Valencia finally terminated Batshuayi's loan stint in the final hours of the transfer window to allow the 25-year-old to join Palace.
Roy Hodgson's side have been pursuing Batshuayi's signature all month and have now finally solved a problem position in their squad.
The 25-year-old only scored one goal in 15 league appearances for Valencia this season, managing 17 shots in the process.
