Everton plan bumper new deal to Chelsea target Pickford

Everton are planning contract talks with goalkeeper Jordan Pickford when he reports back to training from holiday, claims Sky Sports.

Pickford has emerged as Chelsea’s first choice target to replace Thibaut Courtois this summer but the Toffees have no desire to sell.

Everton broke their club transfer record to land Pickford from Sunderland 12 months ago and stand to make much more than their £30m investment if they decide to cash in.

Pickford emerged as one of the stars of England’s 2018 World Cup campaign but Everton are determined to fend off Chelsea’s interest.

The 24-year-old is currently enjoying a well-earned break before returning to pre-season and Marco Silva’s side are planning to offer the England No.1 a bumper new deal.

Pickford still has four years left to run on his current Everton deal but the Toffees hope improved terms will end Chelsea’s pursuit.

Only three goalkeepers made more saves than Pickford at the 2018 World Cup (16).
