AC Milan reach agreement for Atletico Madrid forward

AC Milan are on the verge of signing Atletico Madrid winger Angel Correa in a stunning deal worth as much as €57m (£51.3m), claims Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Serie A giants are set to overhaul their offensive options before the start of next season with Andre Silva and Patrick Cutrone set for moves away.

Silva is expected to join Monaco and Wolves are pursuing a deal for Cutrone, while Suso has also been linked with a move to Serie A rivals Roma.

Milan have been locked in talks with Atletico for Correa and have reportedly agreed an initial €50m (£45m) deal plus a further €7m (£6m) in add-ons.

Correa has spent the last five years with Atletico but is now poised to become the most expensive signing in Milan’s history.

The 24-year-old’s impending transfer to Milan comes at a good time for Atletico, who are keen to sign James Rodriguez from rivals Real Madrid.

Atletico have already spent more than £200m on new players this summer and Correa’s departure would free up funds to afford Rodriguez.

Correa played a direct hand in 38 goals in 130 league appearances for Atletico but was only ever a first-team regular during his last three seasons at the club.

In fact, since August 2016 only Antoine Griezmann (105) has made more league appearances for Atletico than Correa (104).
