Bayern Munich rule out sale of Manchester City target
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been dealt a decisive blow in his reported pursuit of Bayern Munich defender Joshua Kimmich after Carlo Ancelotti ruled out his departure in the summer.
Kimmich put clubs around Europe on red alert after hitting out at his lack of regular playing time this season and hinting a change of scenery could be on the cards in the summer if things to do improve.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a fabulous maiden campaign at Bayern last season under Pep Guardiola and the City manager was keen on reuniting with the versatile German for next season with a big overhaul planned at the Etihad.
Kimmich would be able to carry out Guardiola’s philosophy in a variety of positions in defence and in midfield but Ancelotti has dismissed the idea of Kimmich leaving.
“There is no possibility of Joshua Kimmich leaving this club,” Goal quote Ancelotti as saying ahead of the weekend’s action.
Kimmich has only started 10 Bundesliga matches this season but he has weighed in with goals at the other end too. In fact, only Arjen Robben (8) and Robert Lewandowksi (21) have scored more for Bayern in the Bundesliga this season than Kimmich (4).
