Manchester United boss has no idea when Pogba will return

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has hinted Paul Pogba faces a long spell on the sidelines after revealing he has no idea when their club-record signing will return from a hamstring problem.

Pogba has missed United’s last two matches after limping off midway through the first half of their 3-0 win over FC Basel last week and it has been suggested the 24-year-old could be sidelined for as long as two months.

As this is Pogba's second hamstring injury in the last six months, United are not interested in rushing the France international back and are yet to stick a timeframe on his recovery after initial scan results came back inconclusive.

However, it does not seem likely that Pogba will be turning out for United any time soon after Mourinho revealed he still has no idea how long his star midfielder will be sidelined for.

“I have no idea,” The Independent quote Mourinho as saying when asked about the extent of Pogba’s injury ahead of Satruday’s trip to Southampton. “No idea. But it’s a great opportunity for other players to play and I trust them all.

“I’m not going to cry or be counting the days until Pogba comes back, not at all. When he comes back, welcome, but until then, I trust my people.”

Pogba had made a good start to the season prior to injury, but United have scored four goals in back-to-back matches in his absence, a first at Old Trafford for five years.

However, United will undoubtedly be worse off without the Frenchman. In fact, the United No.6 has played a direct hand in four goals in as many league appearances this term and is currently the highest rated Premier League player (8.09).
