Manchester United weigh up January move for Ligue 1 sensation
Manchester United are interested in making a January move for £30m-rated Bordeaux star Malcom, reports The Times.
Jose Mourinho’s side are now 14 points behind league leaders Manchester City and face an almost impossible task to chase down their arch rivals.
The United manager believes he needs another attacker to give his side the greatest possible chance of overturning the deficit and has earmarked Malcom as a potential signing.
Malcom, 20, has been in sparkling form for Bordeaux on the right of their attack this season and his arrival would help solve what has become a problem position for Mourinho.
Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial both prefer to play on the left flank, leaving Mourinho with few dynamic options on the opposite side.
Juan Mata is often deployed on the right but does not have the same impact as Rashford and Martial, who both like to take on opponents at pace.
Of players aged 21 and under, only Kylian Mbappe and Leroy Sane (both 14) have played a direct hand in more goals than Malcom (11) in Europe’s top five leagues this season.
