Manchester United risk missing out on Juventus striker to Qatar
Qatar Super League outfit Al Duhail SC have entered the race to sign Manchester United target Mario Mandzukic from Juventus in January, claims The Daily Record.
Mandzukic is free to leave Juventus at the start of next year after dropping completely out of favour under Maurizio sarri.
The former Croatia international emerged as a shock transfer target for United at the end of the summer but the Red Devils ran out of time to get a deal over the line.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have struggled to get going in attack and the United manager wants to sign a new striker to fill the void left by Romelu Lukaku.
United sold Lukaku to Inter without replacing the Belgium international but now they could miss out on Mandzukic to AL Duhail SC.
The Qatari outfit are plotting a blockbuster deal to trump United's interest and prise the 33-year-old to the Middle East.
Mandzukic's still has two years left to run on his current Juventus contract but the Old Lady are reportedly willing to subsidise an early termination in January.
The veteran striker was a key player for Juventus under Max Allegri last season but has been pushed to the fringes since Sarri's arrival in the summer.
Gonzalo Higuain's return to the club even saw Mandzukic left out of Juventus' squad for the Champions League and he hasn't even made a single appearance in Serie A this season.
