Liverpool consider move for Tottenham midfielder

Liverpool are considering a move for Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama as Jurgen Klopp looks to shore up his squad, reports the Daily Mail.

Wanyama made an immediate impact in Spurs’ recent 2-2 draw with Liverpool, scoring the equaliser following his second half introduction.

The Kenyan has struggled for regular first team action this term after sustaining a knee injury back in August, with head coach Mauricio Pochettino managing his return to full fitness carefully.

Indeed, Wanyama has made just one Premier League start this season, that coming in a 2-1 loss to Chelsea earlier in the campaign.

Klopp may now look to capitalise on any potential discontent in north London as the German seeks midfield reinforcements.

Emre Can’s likely exit in the summer, with Juventus keen on the former Bayer Leverkusen man, means Klopp runs the risk of being caught short in midfield.

While Naby Keita is to join from RB Leipzig at the end of the season, Klopp is looking to add another ball winning midfielder to ease Can’s departure, with Wanyama a rumoured target.

Pochettino, though, would be reluctant to sell the 26-year-old, who is set to start Tottenham’s FA Cup meeting with Rochdale on Sunday.
