Arsenal midfielder still waiting for new deal

Santi Cazorla has revealed there have been no talks with Arsenal about extending his stay at the club.

The 31-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his existing deal and will be free to speak to foreign clubs at the start of next year.

Cazorla has developed into one of Arsenal’s best players in the last few years and is keen to extend his stay, although no talks have been forthcoming.

“No, I don’t have any news from the club [regarding a new contract],” Cazorla told Spanish radio station Cadena Ser, via Metro. “My focus now is on playing and to be able to enjoy playing football following a season when I had lots of [injury] problems.

“I hope I can stay here and continue to play. I am happy here. What a player wants is to play and to feel important. Fortunately, sine I arrived at Arsenal, I’ve had the confidence of the coach and of my team.”
