Tottenham win race for Everton target Hojbjerg

Tottenham have matched Southampton's valuation of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and are now set to beat Everton to the midfielder's signature, claims The Sun.

Jose Mourinho's side have had a £20m plus add-ons offer accepted for Hojbjerg, who has entered the final 12 months of his current Southampton deal.

Everton had their own offer accepted by Southampton last month but Hojbjerg had his heart set on joining Tottenham.

The former Bayern Munich prodigy will now get his wish after the north London outfit increased their offer.

Tottenham are also expected to sell Kyle Walker-Peters to Southampton in a separate deal worth up to £15m.

Walker-Peters spent the season on loan at Southampton and really impressed Ralph Hasenhuttl's side towards the end of the campaign.

Hojbjerg was Southampton captain in 2019/20 but was stripped of the armband after refusing to pledge his long-term future to the club.

Despite dropping out of the side during the season's climax, Hojbjerg ended the campaign with more possession won in the midfield third than any other player in the Premier League (181).
