Bale flattered by talk of Bayern Munich switch

Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale has revealed he is flattered to be linked with a move to Bayern Munich.

Bale has been heavily linked with a move away from Madrid this summer after dropping down the pecking order this season.

The Wales international is no longer considered first choice by Zinedine Zidane but has previously been determined to make things work at Madrid.

Bale has constantly been linked with a return to the Premier League but has now spoken about a potential switch to German giants Bayern.

“In football you can never say never,” Bale told Sport Bild when asked about joining Bayern in the future, via Spanish outlet AS.

“I’m enjoying my football in Madrid and I admit that Bayern have always been one of the best sides in European football.

“To be linked with this club is an honour for any player but I’m a Real Madrid player.”

Bayern will need to overhaul their attacking options in the near future as both Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben are approaching retirement.

Bale is expected to be named as a substitute when Madrid face Bayern on Wednesday in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.

The 28-year-old has only started 20 games in all competitions for Madrid this season, making a further 11 appearances from the bench.

Despite a lack of regular playing time, Bale has scored 11 goals in 22 league appearances for Madrid this season, picking up the WhoScored Man of the Match award five times in the process.
