Denmark international set to complete switch to Sevilla

Danish defender Simon Kjaer is expected to complete a move to Sevilla from Fenerbahce early next week, according to Marca.

Eduardo Berizzo is looking to build his squad in his image having replaced Jorge Sampaoli this summer, and Kjaer has been on the club’s radar for some time.

The 28-year-old joined Fenerbahce from Lille in 2015 and has impressed during his time in Turkey, despite what was an underwhelming campaign from the club last time around.

Marca claim that while a deal is yet to be finalised, the two parties are close to an agreement and the player could arrive in Spain for a medical on Monday before signing a four-year deal with Sevilla.

In 55 league appearances over the last two seasons Kjaer has helped Fenerbahce to 2.13 points per game whilst the club have averaged just 1.62 points per game without him.

Moreover, the Super Lig outfit have conceded twice as many goals per game when the Denmark international has been absent (1.46 from 0.73).
