Kevin De Bruyne has revealed he is happy at Manchester City and is targeting a long-term future at the club.
The Belgium international has established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League this season after joining as City in August 2015 as club-record signing.
De Bruyne’s form this season has prompted suggestions that City want to reward the 26-year-old with a new long-term deal and the Belgian has hailed City as the perfect club.
“Since Pep came to the club, he plays a style of football I like to play, so it makes it easy as a player,” De Bruyne told Sky Sports.
“I like it here, it is the perfect environment and since I cam here there has been a lot of trust in me. I like the project they are doing from the moment. I came here.
“There was an older team [when I joined], they did a lot of transfers, a lot of young people, they are building for the future.
“I like the project and I am really happy here and I see myself being a long time here.”
De Bruyne still has four years left to run on his current deal but it would be a surprise if the creative midfielder does not sign a bumper new contract before the end of the current campaign.
The Belgian has even captained City this season, illustrating his growing role in the team, and he is surely one of the early frontrunners for the PFA Player of the Year award.
No player has provided more Premier League assists this season than De Bruyne (6).
