Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has emerged as a top transfer target for AC Milan this summer, claims Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Gunners only signed Torreira 12 months ago and are now facing a fight to keep the Uruguay international at the club.
Torreira has not settled in England and is reportedly keen on a move back to Italy, having previously played for Sampdoria.
Arsenal have already lost Aaron Ramsey to Juventus this summer and Torreira’s departure would further deplete their midfield options.
Milan are ready to test Arsenal’s resolve with a two-year loan deal with an option to make the switch permanent.
The Rossoneri will offer Arsenal €5m (£4.5m) to take Torreira on loan and propose a €30m (£26.8m) fee as an option to buy.
It’s unclear whether Arsenal will consider a loan deal considering they are already working off a restricted budget.
Letting Torreira join Milan would force Unai Emery to find a replacement and they are currently targeting other players with their reported £45m budget.
Torreira made 34 league appearances for Arsenal in his first season at the club, though only 24 of those were starts. He scored twice and registered two assists in that time.
